Greening the Festival

In 2005, the Festival committee explored strategies to reduce the event's carbon footprint and raise awareness. Our early measures incorporated: 

• recycling glass, cardboard and plastics with sorting services provided by Conservation Corps of the North Bay
  
• bike valet parking, courtesy of Sustainable Novato, with rack rentals from the Marin Bicycle Coalition powering the Seventh Street Stage with solar panels, courtesy of PG&E
  
• printing promotion and publicity materialson recycled paper whenever possible

In 2011, we expanded our greening efforts with a pilot food composting collection and we hope to take it Festival-wide this year. Efforts to become carbon-neutral continue.
